The other day, I was sitting at home when I heard this commercial begin to air on our television. Was I really hearing this right? I couldn’t believe that “Jane Roe” would be speaking out against abortion.
The woman who fought to make abortion legal in the United States is now speaking out against that legislation. A baby is a life–not just a mass of tissue–from the moment they are conceived. Psalm 139:13 says “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” From the time a baby is conceived, God is weaving and knitting them together, making them into the beautiful creation that he can’t wait to see grow up and live out all the dreams and plans he has in store for them.
What does this mean for our country? How will we respond to this news that the woman who fought to make abortion legal now recognizes that the court decision has led to the death of over 50 million innocent lives?
We pray. We encourage young, seemingly hopeless mothers to consider their options, whether that means keeping the baby or giving them to a couple who isn’t able to have children, rather than discarding them as if they were not a precious human life. We must live as Jesus calls us to live, serving our neighbor and those in need as we seek to eradicate this genocide of our children in the United States.
