From the UPPER ROOM to the Street: Churches In Unity Can Change the World

A thread runs from the Upper Room to the streets of Toowoomba, Australia. And it runs through the church.

In the Upper Room, Jesus prayed for the unity of His followers.

… that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me … (Joh 17:21-23 ESV)

Jesus prayed for our unity, that precious gift which allows the world to know that the Father has sent the Son. He also said unity is the mark of the Christian.  All too often the church focuses and functions from its divisions rather than from its glorious unity in the cross of Christ. But the churches in this “down under” city are an exception.

Toowoomba’s City Church is a group of pastors and churches that pray and work together for the benefit of their city.

These churches are intentionally focusing on serving their city, on bringing the blessings of the kingdom to the community around them. And the result is a growing unity.

Two years ago we shared the story of the City Church and City Women in Toowoomba, Australia. Now they have released a new and compelling video, testimonies of pastors and church leaders that powerfully relate what God is doing through their remarkable unity.
