Labor Day. This is the perfect opportunity to touch on one of those biblical topics neglected in so much Christian teaching: work. Yes, God has lots to say about our work.
We have featured Dr. Christian Overman of Worldview Matters in several posts, including:
Christian was part of a group that recently spent a week with Darrow talking about issues related to the biblical view of work (as presented in Darrow’s book, LifeWork: A Biblical Theology for What You Do Every Day).
During the week, Christian shot the interview below to use in his classes. He has given us permission to publish his video here. It gives an excellent summary of Darrow’s thinking and motivation behind his work, especially in the arena of vocation.
Why did God put humans on the earth? What is God’s view of work? Is work a curse? How can a job at Boeing be an expression of kingdom values? Do only pastors and missionaries receive a calling? What difference would it make if every Christian saw their vocation as God sees it? Why have we heard such little teaching on this subject?
View it … you’ll be glad you did!
More videos from Christian are available at Monday Church.
