For years on this site we have discussed and examined the sacred-secular divide, the call to occupy till He comes, and the gifts the Jewish people gave the world. Today I want to tell you about a new book I’m releasing about the Jews.
A couple of weeks before I began writing, I was talking with a young friend and mentee. He told me that young men in his Bible study — professing Christians in a solid evangelical church — had been expressing support for the Palestinians and for Hamas, and sounded, in his telling, very much like young antisemites. That conversation produced a restless night for me. In the morning, I knew I needed to do something. This book is that something.
The truth is that Jews cannot be erased. Genesis 12 is why. Empires fall. Egypt. Babylonia. Persia. Greece. Rome. The Third Reich. The Jewish people remain.
Hatred of the Jews is not a racial prejudice, not an economic grievance, not a policy disagreement. It is a worldview war. They are hated not because of who they are biologically, but because of what they introduced to the world: a God who is one, who is personal, who is moral.
This book is not primarily a book about antisemitism. It is a book about the ideas that antisemitism attacks.
You cannot hate the root and love the fruit.
